Are you looking to join a fantastic, fun, sociable team? Would you like to gain experience in a busy retail environment? Thinking about starting a new volunteer journey? We have a number of volunteer opportunities in our vibrant retail hub including: 

Volunteer Warehouse Assistant

  • Accepting donations from the public
  • Signing donors up to Gift Aid
  • Sorting donations brought in by the public and our van drivers
  • Hanging and sizing clothes
  • Sorting books, bric-a-brac and accessories
  • Identifying items for sale on our E-bay, Depop & Vinted sites
  • Recycling items through the correct channels

Volunteer PAT Tester

  • Complete an on-line PAT testing course (provided by St Gemma’s Hospice)
  • Check all donated electrical items have a CE label
  • Check functionality of items
  • Ensure items are cleaned and ready for sale

Volunteer Shop Assistant

  • Assisting customers with their choice of goods
  • Serving on the till
  • Dealing with queries about the shop and Hospice
  • Processing Gift Aid donations
  • Displaying stock on rails and shelves 
  • Helping with window displays
  • Replenish stock as and when
  • Hanging, sizing and pricing clothes
  • Steaming clothes ready for the shop floor

St Gemma’s Hospice is an independent Leeds-based charity and one of the leading hospices in the UK, providing expert care and support for local people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. We offer care to patients, families and carers in the Hospice’s In-Patient Unit, through the St Gemma’s community team, and at our Out-Patients.

We have around 300 employees working across the main Hospice site in Moortown, Retail Hub in Bramley, a large chain of charity shops, and out in the community. We offer career opportunities both in our multi-disciplinary clinical team and in a wide range of non-clinical roles, all of which contribute towards local patient care. St Gemma’s Hospice has a team of approximately 800 volunteers, working in a variety of roles supporting departments throughout the organisation.
